Industrial Floor Coatings
In today’s industry, improvements in Health and Safety standards increasingly require durable, low maintenance easily cleanable floors. Whether you need to improve safety in the workplace by means of anti-slip surfaces, colour coded areas etc, or you need oil, chemical or acid resistant floors, resin floors provide a durable and effective solution.
We are an approved applicator of several leading manufacturers within the industry, using highly experienced applicators, overseen by a CITB trained project manager. All operatives hold Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ and CSCS Certificates. This is backed by our experienced advisory service. We provide a total project management system approach, starting with a free survey incorporating effective solutions, specification, test panels or trial areas to determine the right specification to overcome your problem.
Flooring Types, Description, Uses and Thicknesses
Do you know what type of floor coating is required? If not then see FeRFA list below for guidance.
Type | Name | Description | Duty | Typical Thickness |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Floor Seal | Applied in two or more coats. Generally solvent or water borne. |
LD | up to 150μm |
2 | Floor Coating | Applied in two or more coats. Generally solvent free. |
LD/MD | 150μm – 300μm |
3 | High Build Flooring Coating | Applied in two or more coats. Generally solvent free. |
MD | 300μm – 1000μm |
4 | Multi-layer Flooring | Aggregate dressed systems based on multiple layers of floor coatings or flow-applied floorings, often described as 'sandwich' systems. | MD/HD | > 2mm |
5 | Flow Applied Flooring | Often referred to as 'self-smoothing' or 'self-levelling' flooring and having a smooth surface. | MD/HD | 2mm – 3mm |
6 | Resin Screed Flooring | Trowel-finished, heavily filled systems, generally incorporating a surface seal coat to minimize porosity. | MD/HD | > 4mm |
7 | Heavy Duty Flowable Flooring | Having a smooth surface. | HD/VHD | 4mm – 6mm |
8 | Heavy Duty Resin Flooring | Trowel-finished, aggregate filled systems effectively impervious throughout their thickness. | VHD | > 6mm |
LD (Light Duty) | Light foot traffic, occasional rubber tyred vehicles (e.g. dust proofing and sealing concrete) |
MD (Medium Duty) | Regular foot traffic, frequent fork lift traffic, occasional hard plastic-wheeled trolleys (e.g. warehousing or light assembly) |
HD (Heavy Duty) | Constant fork lift truck traffic, hard plastic-wheeled trolleys, some impact (e.g. clean areas with mechanical loading or dirty production areas) |
VHD (Very Heavy Duty) | Severe heavily loaded traffic and impact (e.g. chemical processing, food processing or engineering) |
